FAQ
Hi I'm Bryan the owner of Mamuta's Garden. I've loved Pikmin ever since the first game on GameCube. There's some decent official Pikmin merch out there but it's kinda lacking alot of the non-Pikmin stuff. So I decided to 3D print some to sell! I'm making what I personally would like to see and hopefully some more niche stuff for people like me.
I made this website to try to offer the same stuff for cheaper than Etsy since I don't have to pay their fees as well as offer some more exclusive stuff. For example, the Onions are $5 cheaper here and instead of a 6 pack of Posies for $45 I am offering a 7 pack with exclusive gray rock Posy for the same price as Etsy.
Unfortunately I do not want to sell the files as it could hurt my business if someone decides to sell them too, sorry!
As of right now all my figures are printed with Matte PLA filament. I take great care to print them at the highest quality I can to minimize print lines. I attempt to also minimize marks and damage that come from removing the supports when 3D printing. Sometimes it isn't perfect. In all my listings I choose to take pictures of the lower end printings so nothing you receive will look worse than the images. I also take great care in shipping these out with bubble wrap so nothing breaks. If you are paying me for this stuff believe me I want them to look as good as possible.
Technically yes - but please read everything here. If you put these outside they can warp from heat, become brittle, the color can fade, water can seep into it, etc.
That being said I did put mine outside to test it best I could for this. I did not take care of them at all. I had them in the dirt, in the sun, and next to plants that would get spray with water. I wanted to put them through the elements. Ultimately it does depend on the item.
The blowhog still looks good after 6 months. I assume because it's white helps. I did accidentally hit it and snapped the nose off but the nose is very skinny it may be due to sun damage making it brittle or just because it's so small. I put some glue on it and it's still outside.
The posies were a bit worse. The height and color made them more unacceptable to the sun damage. A few months in I knocked one over with the hose and the top of the stem snapped. There is also some fading of the color.
The onion itself fared pretty well but in the sun on the legs caused the legs to bend.
So if you do keep them outside you may have problems. If you have shady area and don't have as much heat, they will probably fare much better.
If this whole thing is successful I will look at other material for outdoor specific products in the future.
I am partially choosing what to make and sell based on how easy they would be to design, print, and make. There are certain designs I know I want to make in the future (Mamuta, Wollyhop, etc). Realistically, as cool as a 3D printed Beady Long Legs would be, I don't know if it's possible to make in a way I would be happy to sell (never say never).
I may have actual Pikmin figures in the future but probably only for ones they don't make officially in a size that works with my prints. There's a pack you can buy with red, yellow, blue, purple, and an Olimar on Amazon that I own (you can see them in some of the display images) but I don't see official pink Pikmin for example.
Also, I roughly base the sizes of my figures of the sizes of those Pikmin fyi.
